Standard relational databases incur heavy B-tree index maintenance costs on high-frequency time-series ingest. This experiment implements an append-only log with Gorilla-style floating point and delta-of-delta timestamp bitpacking.

Compression Benchmarks

  • Timestamps: 64-bit integer $\to$ avg 1.37 bits per sample
  • Floating point values: XOR delta compression achieves >70% size reduction on telemetry streams.
